00:00:00
Okay, so I keep talking about how I'm like
all stressed out.
00:00:04
So I, I'm going to talk about that a
little bit.
00:00:07
But I had, I kind of learned something
yesterday and it was like something I
00:00:15
knew, but I had to relearn it.
00:00:17
So I just wanted to share that with you
because I don't know.
00:00:21
I feel like, I don't know.
00:00:23
I feel like we all kind of experience a
lot of the same thing.
00:00:25
So.
00:00:26
I guess so I've been like extra stressed
out.
00:00:29
I am always stressed out.
00:00:30
I run a business and that shit is just
stressful.
00:00:33
That's just the reality of the life that I
chose.
00:00:36
So that's to be expected.
00:00:38
But, lately I've just been more stressed
out than usual.
00:00:42
And like this time of year is usually kind
of slow and a lot of, a lot of businesses
00:00:46
experience that.
00:00:47
I think there's something about like going
into the summer.
00:00:51
I think people buy less and then the
economy is kind of weird right now.
00:00:54
So.
00:00:55
You know, there's a lot of weird shit
going on.
00:00:57
And then, you know, I'm looking at things
like bills coming up, our American Express
00:01:03
is doing like fucking seven days and I'm
like, man, I'm gonna make it, you know,
00:01:10
and this is, this is like every month.
00:01:12
This is, I don't know.
00:01:14
I don't want to say it's normal, but it's
something that I've, you know, it's not
00:01:19
something I haven't experienced.
00:01:20
I've been doing this for a long time.
00:01:24
But so I don't know, lately, as the
numbers are going down, like they normally
00:01:31
do around this time of year, I'm just, I
don't know, I got caught in this cycle of
00:01:36
just like constantly staring at things
that are stressing me out.
00:01:42
You know, like the sales numbers, shit,
let me move this thing.
00:01:46
So the, you know, looking at the sales
numbers and then I'm looking at like the
00:01:49
conversion rate on our website and it's
like, it's lower than usual.
00:01:53
And I'm, I don't know.
00:01:54
I'm just getting into this like, I don't
know if it's considered analysis or
00:02:00
paralysis by analysis or if it's something
else, but it's kind of what's been
00:02:05
happening.
00:02:05
And so I've been, I've been wasting a lot
of time like dwelling on these kinds of
00:02:09
things.
00:02:10
And so I think you could apply that to a
lot of things in your, in different, in my
00:02:14
life or your life.
00:02:16
But for me, that's kind of like what it
is.
00:02:19
That's that's getting to me right now.
00:02:21
So I wanted to just jump on.
00:02:23
I don't have anything prepared, but I
wanted to jump on and kind of go over sort
00:02:29
of what happened yesterday because I
actually found some relief.
00:02:32
And yesterday, like I really was starting
to feel like.
00:02:36
Like the stress levels were going to be, I
don't know.
00:02:40
I don't want to say like too much to bear,
because I know people have like panic
00:02:44
attacks and shit.
00:02:45
I've never.
00:02:46
I've never actually had one of those, but
I don't know that that's where I was at,
00:02:52
but I was like, man, I gotta do something
about this.
00:02:56
Because I'm 50 years old and I know stress
takes a toll on your body.
00:03:01
It's not good for your heart and all this
stuff.
00:03:03
And I didn't really worry about it that
much when I was younger, but now it's just
00:03:07
sort of like, man, I don't know.
00:03:10
50, things could go south if I don't get.
00:03:15
get a handle on this stuff.
00:03:16
And then I'm not sleeping very well.
00:03:19
So, you know, Jesse's worried about me and
she's always asking about like, how'd you
00:03:24
sleep?
00:03:24
And you know, I'm not going to lie to her.
00:03:26
So I'm like, I slept like shit.
00:03:27
And so I could tell that it's like
worrying her too.
00:03:31
So yesterday I was like, I dunno, I feel
like I was kind of like, and again, I
00:03:39
don't really want to say like at the edge
or anything, cause I know it could have
00:03:42
gotten a lot worse, but like,
00:03:43
I was just really feeling it yesterday and
I was like, man, I got to do something.
00:03:48
And what's interesting is like.
00:03:52
As far as like the business is concerned,
and hopefully this isn't too far into the
00:03:57
business realm, I'm hoping you can kind of
take what I'm saying and kind of apply it
00:04:01
to whatever you're dealing with.
00:04:05
I would hope that this would be
applicable, and I think it is, so I'll try
00:04:09
to tie it all together.
00:04:13
So for me, there's been a lot of things
that I've known that I need to do.
00:04:18
And I sit there and I like, well, I'll
just tell you, like, I know that I need to
00:04:23
be making more content.
00:04:25
That's for years as I'm building this
company, I've been building up a team and
00:04:33
doing all these kinds of things.
00:04:34
And the idea was to get pretty much all of
the day -to -day off of my plate.
00:04:40
so that I could focus on making content
and building the brand.
00:04:45
And so lately I've sort of found myself in
the position where I can do that, but I
00:04:52
get sort of a little, let me turn this fan
on.
00:04:56
I get a little, I get stuck in my head and
I'm like, I don't know what to make and
00:05:01
all this kind of stuff.
00:05:02
And I follow people like Gary V and Alex
Hermosy and.
00:05:08
I don't know.
00:05:08
Some other people talk about similar
things and they talk about the volume of
00:05:12
content that they put out.
00:05:14
And I find myself getting really
intimidated by that.
00:05:17
And partially because I know that they
have teams that are helping them do all
00:05:22
this stuff and they're putting out an
amount of content that I just can't even
00:05:25
imagine being able to do.
00:05:27
Like I have a team, but I'm the only one
that does the branding and does the
00:05:31
content and all that stuff.
00:05:32
Obviously that's going to change at some
point, but right now that's where we're
00:05:37
at.
00:05:37
And so.
00:05:39
I started thinking about like how the fuck
am I supposed to put out all this stuff?
00:05:43
And so eventually I got to the point where
I was like, okay, you know, I was posting
00:05:49
really inconsistently and then I was like,
all right, I'm going to post every day,
00:05:52
but I was only posting on Instagram.
00:05:54
And sometimes I would share it on Tik TOK
and all this kind of thing, you know, and,
00:05:59
and, and for, for,
00:06:01
The longest time, like I just knew I'm
like, this is not enough.
00:06:04
This is not what I should be doing.
00:06:05
I should be going all in.
00:06:07
And so this is where I'm kind of starting
to get to the, the actual lesson that I
00:06:10
learned.
00:06:10
And so I started thinking about what's
under my control and it's my actions, you
00:06:16
know?
00:06:17
And then I thought about the book, the 10
X rule.
00:06:21
And one of the biggest takeaways in that
book is like, obviously, well, not
00:06:26
obviously, if you haven't read it, you
don't know, but, one of the biggest, okay,
00:06:30
sorry.
00:06:32
One thing in the book is he says the 10 X
your goals.
00:06:35
So if you have a goal of like making,
let's just arbitrary number, let's a
00:06:39
million dollars, you know, I want to, I
want to make a million dollars a year,
00:06:43
whatever it is.
00:06:44
I don't know.
00:06:45
He says, that's too low.
00:06:47
No matter what the goal is, he's like, he
10 X the goal.
00:06:50
And the idea is sort of like, if you shoot
for the clouds, then you know, you might
00:06:55
get halfway there, but if you shoot for
the moon, you might get further.
00:06:58
He shoot for the stars.
00:07:00
I'm sure you've heard all this stuff.
00:07:02
And so the 10Xing the goals is the first
part, but then the second part and the
00:07:07
part that I think is the most important is
he says you gotta take massive action
00:07:11
towards those goals.
00:07:14
And if you do those two things, you're
gonna make progress.
00:07:18
I mean, obviously if you take massive
action towards anything, you're gonna
00:07:23
progress.
00:07:24
Something's gonna happen.
00:07:26
And so yesterday when I'm just super
stressed out, I'm like, man, and I was
00:07:30
doing the same shit.
00:07:30
I was like looking at the numbers and I'm
freaking out and all this kind of stuff.
00:07:34
And I'm comparing the conversion rate on
our website to like the same time last
00:07:39
year.
00:07:39
And it was like way better.
00:07:40
And I'm like, my God, like, you know, this
company has grown every year and this
00:07:45
year, like we're just barely growing.
00:07:47
So I'm like, it's kind of freaking me out.
00:07:49
And so when I was like, okay, what's in my
control, like my actions,
00:07:56
And then I thought, well, I got to take
massive action and I know what I need to
00:08:01
do.
00:08:01
And I've always known what I need to do
and I just need to do it.
00:08:04
So anyway, long story short, I just said,
I'm just going to go crazy making content
00:08:09
all day today.
00:08:11
And, and then just posting on all
platforms and just really, really go and,
00:08:17
you know, setting the standard for how I
need to, you know, operate moving forward.
00:08:23
And so.
00:08:25
And so I did that and as I'm doing that,
00:08:31
You know, I start to build up momentum,
you know, and I've talked about that a
00:08:35
bunch of times.
00:08:36
And so as the momentum builds, the stress
level starts to go down.
00:08:40
And so I start to feel better.
00:08:42
So it motivates me to go further.
00:08:44
And I'm like, okay, well, I'm going to go,
I'm going to shoot.
00:08:47
I'm going to record some voiceovers and
I'm going to make another couple of
00:08:50
videos.
00:08:50
I'm going to do this.
00:08:51
I'm going to finish editing this thing,
you know, you know, all these kinds of
00:08:56
things.
00:08:57
Like I know I've been needing to take
YouTube more seriously.
00:09:00
I need to be more consistent on tick
-tock.
00:09:03
We got a huge following there, but the.
00:09:06
The account has been feeling like it's
kind of dying.
00:09:10
And for a while I was kind of blaming it
on this like this community violation that
00:09:15
we got a while back.
00:09:17
It was a stupidest thing because it was
like at Machine Studio, this one company
00:09:25
they made this thing called the Boost
Stick and it's just a fucking metal rod.
00:09:29
And you put it in the holes in like a
street sign and then you can step on it.
00:09:36
and put a sticker up high.
00:09:37
So I'm like, I just went outside and I
just made this video.
00:09:41
I'm like, Hey, we used to use screwdrivers
for this.
00:09:44
Now we use these.
00:09:45
And I put the boost stick in and I climbed
up on the sign and, and put a sticker up
00:09:51
and posted it on Tik TOK.
00:09:52
And then the next day when I looked at it,
it said a community violation, but there
00:09:59
was like, I don't know.
00:10:00
I don't remember how many, I think it was
like 10 likes or something.
00:10:04
And since it had a community violation,
you can't see how many views, but if you
00:10:08
have 10 likes, I mean, it's probably,
I don't even know.
00:10:12
It's probably a lot of views, a shitload.
00:10:15
So the video went viral and then I'm sure
somebody probably, somebody probably
00:10:21
reported it or something, I don't know.
00:10:24
And so ever since then, the reach like
significantly went down.
00:10:28
So.
00:10:30
I sort of neglected that platform.
00:10:32
Like I'd still put stuff on there and I'm
like, man, there's no point.
00:10:35
But anyway, that's not really the point.
00:10:38
The point is, is like,
00:10:42
It's not so much about like this video
isn't about making content.
00:10:45
It's, it's about, I knew what actions I
needed to take.
00:10:50
And even though I was working all day,
like I would work 12 hours for a day, you
00:10:55
know, like working on my business and
doing stuff and working in the business
00:11:00
and all these kinds of things.
00:11:03
But like the whole time, like I knew that
there was certain things that I needed to
00:11:08
prioritize and I just wasn't doing that.
00:11:11
And.
00:11:13
Believe that the universe like I talk
about this, you know I believe there's
00:11:16
some order to this shit and I've mentioned
this before like when I was doing motion
00:11:20
graphics that I Wasn't I wasn't really?
00:11:24
Advertising so my whole thing was like
when I didn't have work.
00:11:28
I was like I need to do work on Whatever
like on my business or make a reel or do
00:11:33
some kind of work So they can tell the
order of things the universe or whatever
00:11:38
that I'm ready for work.
00:11:39
Like send me some work
00:11:41
Kind of weird and maybe it doesn't make a
lot of sense and not really the best
00:11:46
marketing strategy, you know?
00:11:49
But at the same time, that act of moving
forward, even though I didn't have work, I
00:11:55
didn't have paid work, that act of moving
forward made me feel like I was
00:12:00
progressing.
00:12:01
And so I feel like if there is an order to
this and the universe and all that stuff,
00:12:06
then...
00:12:07
you're going to get signs that you're
moving in the right direction.
00:12:10
And maybe that sign is your stress levels
go down.
00:12:12
And obviously that's probably more going
on inside your mind than anything, but I
00:12:18
don't know.
00:12:19
It makes me feel better to think about
that kind of stuff.
00:12:22
And then the marketplace obviously will
also give you signs.
00:12:26
And so when I did all this yesterday, and
so for context, you know, when I ramped
00:12:35
up,
00:12:37
you know, when I was like, I got to post
more, I got to, I got to get more content
00:12:40
out there.
00:12:41
And, and, you know, our content is about
providing value.
00:12:45
You know, that's, that's the kind of stuff
that we like to do.
00:12:48
That I like to do, you know, show people
educational things like how to use
00:12:52
different tools, different techniques.
00:12:54
And then obviously this podcast is just me
sharing kind of like shit that I've
00:13:00
learned.
00:13:00
And that's what Cub and I's original
intention was.
00:13:04
So,
00:13:05
When I decided I'm like, okay, I'm going
to ramp it up.
00:13:08
And so I'm going to post every day.
00:13:10
So I was pretty much just posting on
Instagram every day.
00:13:14
And then sometimes I would remember to put
something on TikTok.
00:13:17
And sometimes I would post on Twitter and
you know, if I remembered, I would put it
00:13:23
on YouTube shorts and shit like that.
00:13:25
But I wasn't taking it all, all the stuff
very seriously.
00:13:28
So yesterday I was like, I'm going to go
all in on all this shit.
00:13:32
and I ended up posting 10 times.
00:13:34
So I think I posted three times on
Instagram.
00:13:38
I don't remember how it equaled out, but I
posted multiple times on Instagram,
00:13:44
TikTok, TikTok.
00:13:47
What is it?
00:13:48
Instagram.
00:13:49
I posted multiple times on Instagram,
TikTok, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
00:13:56
And so I just put all this shit out and I
was just making content all day.
00:13:59
And like I said, as I was doing that,
00:14:03
The momentum was making me feel better.
00:14:05
It was greatly reducing my stress levels.
00:14:09
And then the numbers on the, you know, the
sales numbers started to kind of like move
00:14:14
a little bit, but I didn't, doing this
kind of shit, that's long game stuff.
00:14:19
That's a brand building, but we've been
building brand for a long time, but not
00:14:24
like at this level.
00:14:25
Like we just hit a hundred thousand
followers on Instagram.
00:14:29
We have like quarter million on.
00:14:31
TikTok, so it's not like I haven't been
building brand like I have been, but not
00:14:37
at the level that I feel like I should be.
00:14:39
And I think that was contributing to the
stress.
00:14:43
And so I'll look at it right now, but it's
kind of interesting.
00:14:47
And these things, these things, I don't
know.
00:14:51
I mean, there's ebbs and flows in business
and that's to be expected, but.
00:15:00
I see this as a sign that I did the right
thing yesterday and that I need to
00:15:04
continue this.
00:15:05
So like when I look at the numbers today,
our conversion rate is up 111%.
00:15:10
Our sales are up 147 % all compared to
yesterday.
00:15:15
And the conversion rate is like way higher
than normal today.
00:15:19
And so I'm like, okay, that's my sign to
keep my foot on the gas.
00:15:25
So.
00:15:25
Hope this didn't play out like as if I'm
just talking about content because I
00:15:29
wanted to be a lesson of taking massive
action Against whatever it is that you're
00:15:35
Feeling that you need to so I feel like
most of us know what we need to do So like
00:15:40
if you want it if you're not happy with
the physical shape you in you're in We get
00:15:45
caught up in all this kind of stuff like
what kind of diet should I do?
00:15:48
What kind of workout program should I do?
00:15:49
What kind of this and that and and all
these kind of things but in deep down I
00:15:53
think we all know
00:15:56
You just need to eat less, eat healthier
and exercise.
00:15:59
I mean, obviously you're not going to
become like fucking gladiator shape
00:16:05
without some more intention than that.
00:16:08
But like, that's the gist of it.
00:16:09
And that's what we know we're supposed to
do.
00:16:11
And so when it comes to things that we're
stressed about, and you know, I've talked
00:16:18
about this before, like waking up at three
o 'clock in the morning is something
00:16:21
that's been happening.
00:16:23
And.
00:16:26
There's some spiritual shit that I don't
know.
00:16:29
I don't know if I believe it or not, but I
think it's weird that I wake up at that
00:16:32
time.
00:16:33
And when I listened to like paranormal,
paranormal like podcasts and shit, like
00:16:39
there's all this shit around three o
'clock in the morning, you know?
00:16:42
So I'm like.
00:16:45
I believe in a sense that there's
something also that's telling you and it
00:16:49
might just be your own mind.
00:16:51
It might be your subconscious that's
telling you what you need to do.
00:16:54
And like, so I'm wondering if, if this
applies to you also, like, if you're
00:16:59
sitting here thinking like, fuck, yeah,
I'm, I'm stressed too.
00:17:03
Do you already, if you've really thought
about it, do you already know what it is
00:17:07
that you need to do?
00:17:09
I think you might.
00:17:10
I mean, I think most of us do.
00:17:12
So,
00:17:14
Like for example, if you don't have work,
like you're a nine to fiver, like I love
00:17:19
nine to fivers.
00:17:20
My whole business would not be here if I
didn't have those people.
00:17:26
So I would never say that in a way that's,
I don't even know.
00:17:31
I didn't even say anything.
00:17:33
I don't know why I'm going down that path.
00:17:35
But let's say you're a person that works a
nine to five job, but you don't have a job
00:17:41
right now.
00:17:43
You're stressed out about it.
00:17:45
How many how many jobs are you applying to
every day?
00:17:49
Can you 10x that can you hundred X that?
00:17:53
Would that make you feel better?
00:17:54
I would think so and Obviously it would it
would increase the results of you getting
00:17:59
a job Back to like the fitness thing.
00:18:03
I mean, obviously you can't like That
stuff you you have to be more careful
00:18:08
because you could physically injure
yourself it's not like
00:18:11
You're like, I need to lose a hundred
pounds.
00:18:13
So I'm going to do a fucking two hour
super heavyweight workout.
00:18:16
And I haven't worked out for six years.
00:18:19
Like you're going to fuck yourself up.
00:18:21
There's a different way to take massive
action towards that.
00:18:24
So hopefully that all kind of came
together.
00:18:28
The idea, I'll recap quickly.
00:18:31
If there's something that's stressing you
out, I feel like that there's some kind of
00:18:35
deep down knowledge that you already know
what you're supposed to do.
00:18:41
And I would encourage you to...
00:18:46
Figure that out and then just take massive
action against it.
00:18:50
Whatever that is.
00:18:51
I think you'll find that number one,
you'll feel better, you'll gain momentum.
00:19:00
And if you maintain that momentum, I feel
like you can push your way through
00:19:05
whatever that is that you're dealing with.
