00:00:00
Bus166: This idea came to me after I finished 75 hard the
00:00:02
last time. And it was, even when I finished. I did all the stuff,
00:00:09
but I didn't really get the results I was hoping for. And
00:00:12
it's because I just didn't really go as hard as I could
00:00:15
have. I could have gone harder on the workouts, I could have
00:00:18
been more disciplined with my, with my food, you know, I
00:00:22
followed the diet, but it was like, Oh, I don't know, probably
00:00:26
didn't even I probably didn't even really, this last round was
00:00:30
probably not even an acceptable. If I'm really looking back on
00:00:35
it, it probably wasn't really an acceptable pass, like I did the
00:00:38
75 days, a pretty healthy, but I didn't really anyway, I'm kind
00:00:43
of fucking rambling already. But it was like, the concept I
00:00:47
wanted to talk about was that 75 Days came and went. And when I
00:00:53
was done with it, I was kind of disappointed, like, I got
00:00:56
results, but I didn't get the results I was hoping for. And at
00:01:00
the end of it, I was like, Man, that time went by anyway, like,
00:01:04
had I gone all in and done all that stuff, I would be much
00:01:07
happier now. You know, there was there's no downside to it. I
00:01:10
mean, obviously, like, if I got hurt or something, but let's
00:01:14
just say that say that that wasn't gonna happen, but there's
00:01:17
no downside to, to putting in the effort. You know, because it
00:01:23
sucks at the time, but that time is gonna pass. And so when I was
00:01:27
done with 75 heart, I was like, Man, I did that whole 75 days,
00:01:32
and I wish I had had, you know, exercise more discipline. And
00:01:36
I'd be closer to where I wanted to be. I started thinking about
00:01:39
that recently, just about everything, you know, like, I
00:01:43
was doing an audit on the marketing for my business. And
00:01:47
that's one of my main roles in the business. But we've been
00:01:51
going through a lot of changes and all this kind of stuff. And
00:01:55
a lot of my time is occupied with other shit. But it's, it's
00:01:58
up to me to have the discipline to figure out a way to get that
00:02:02
stuff off my plate, to kind of free up time, so that I can
00:02:06
really focus on this, you know, this marketing stuff. And so
00:02:10
when I was looking through all of our shit, and trying all
00:02:14
these new tools and trying to figure out how to optimize
00:02:17
everything, I really came to the conclusion that we're wasting
00:02:20
kind of, we're wasting quite a bit of money on ineffective ads.
00:02:25
And so I started, I started really getting aggressive about
00:02:28
like cutting things and digging into the numbers and all that
00:02:32
kind of stuff. And I found out, I was able to save quite a bit
00:02:35
of money every month, and I'm still working on it. So I
00:02:39
probably could save quite a bit more. But all this time had
00:02:43
passed. And I didn't put in that effort. And it was like, had I
00:02:47
put in that effort like a year ago, we'd probably be in a much
00:02:50
better place. You know, granted, I mean, I was really busy. And
00:02:54
it was hard to find the time. But that doesn't really matter.
00:02:58
I mean, at the end of the day, like you just have to figure it
00:03:00
out. You just have to figure out how to find the time to do the
00:03:03
things you you know you need to do. So the more I thought about
00:03:06
it, the more I just started thinking about how this could
00:03:09
apply to so many different things. So I mean, let's say,
00:03:13
No, I already talked about 75 hard, but let's just say you
00:03:16
wanted to lose weight. And all this time that you
00:03:18
procrastinate, because it's like, it's not something any of
00:03:22
us really liked to do. Like you have to change your eating
00:03:24
habits, you got to work harder, you got to do all this kind of
00:03:27
stuff. Most people don't enjoy doing that. So it's easy to
00:03:30
procrastinate. This kind of thing, like, Oh, I'm gonna start
00:03:33
later, I'm gonna start later. Imagine the moment that you
00:03:36
decided that you really wanted to do that. Had you started
00:03:40
right then? And all the time that you have procrastinated
00:03:44
off, that time has already passed? It's already gone? Like,
00:03:48
what if you had just started and created those habits? Like where
00:03:51
would you be now. And I started thinking about that for myself.
00:03:55
And it was like, I had this like last like couple of few percent
00:03:59
body fat that I need to get rid of to be where I want to be. And
00:04:04
it's like, I just haven't taken those last little critical steps
00:04:08
to push myself harder, you know, to maybe watch my calorie intake
00:04:14
or whatever that is, like, workout a little more intensely
00:04:17
I've been I've been doing much more intense workouts lately. So
00:04:21
like the needle starting to move, but like, looking at it,
00:04:24
I'm like, Why didn't I just do this shit before like I could
00:04:27
have done this years ago, and just been on track this whole
00:04:31
time. And that time would have come and gone and you know, I
00:04:35
would have been in a better place. And so when I'm thinking
00:04:38
about this, I'm thinking about stuff with like graphs, you
00:04:42
know, like I'm always saying I want to paint more and I want to
00:04:44
do all this kind of stuff. And you know, tried different styles
00:04:49
and different techniques and all this kind of shit and then I put
00:04:53
it off to another day. And, you know, again, the time passes by
00:04:57
and like who knows where I would be right now. Had I just
00:05:01
committed to doing that stuff? And it's like, a lot of times,
00:05:05
you don't do this stuff because you don't feel like it, or I
00:05:08
don't feel like it. I don't do this stuff because I don't feel
00:05:10
like I think that's a pretty common a common thing. And
00:05:13
that's a common reason why we procrastinate. And there was a
00:05:17
sort of an interesting kind of synchronicity. When I was
00:05:20
thinking about this podcast, I was I was looking at, I don't
00:05:25
know, this guy's videos came up. Before I recorded this, I think
00:05:29
I saw it yesterday, this dude named David JP Phillips, I don't
00:05:33
really know who he is, his video just popped up. The video said,
00:05:36
a quote from his video said, one inch of movement will take you
00:05:40
way closer than a mile of intention. And I was like,
00:05:43
that's exactly what I've been kind of thinking about? Well,
00:05:46
not exactly, but it's sort of what I've been thinking about.
00:05:48
Because if you think, you know, you have all this intention to
00:05:51
do these things. And then you procrastinate, and you don't
00:05:55
take any action towards it. So like, we could just take a small
00:05:59
action, at least to kind of get ourselves moving in the right
00:06:02
direction. Like, today, I wasn't really feeling like doing a
00:06:05
workout. But I still, instead of saying, you know, I'm either
00:06:09
going to work out for 45 minutes or not at all, I have worked out
00:06:14
anyway, and I did a really intense, I don't know, like 15
00:06:17
minutes of those Navy SEALs, burpees lets things beat the
00:06:22
shit out of me. And so I still got one in you know, and then I
00:06:27
used to do these, when I was doing the 75 hard, I think it's
00:06:30
in phase one, these cold showers and I'm like, you know, I got
00:06:34
that workout in, maybe I do something else, that's hard. And
00:06:37
so I took a five minute shower. So like, I feel like I'm kind of
00:06:40
pushing myself in the right direction that just got me a
00:06:44
little more energized into thinking like, let's say, and
00:06:48
maybe you could do this, too. Let's say you set up a calendar
00:06:51
update 90 days from now, and set a goal of something you want to
00:06:58
want to achieve by that time. And then you start working on it
00:07:02
today. And then maybe set a reminder on your phone, you
00:07:05
know, for that time. If you put in all the time, and you you
00:07:10
actually move well, I guess I got ahead of myself, I was gonna
00:07:13
say, you set that goal, I'm going to do this in 90 days,
00:07:18
then what's the what do you have to do every single day in order
00:07:21
to get there. So a couple of goals that I set for myself for
00:07:24
90 days, I want to lose 4% body fat, I don't really know exactly
00:07:29
what my body fat percentage is right now. Like, the scale at
00:07:33
home is probably not accurate. But it says 17%. So I want I
00:07:36
want that scale to say 13%. And I'll see. See how I feel? If I
00:07:41
break that down? What do I need to do every day. To make that
00:07:45
happen? Obviously, I got to maybe eat a little bit better
00:07:48
eat a little bit less, maybe, and work, workout a little
00:07:51
harder and be more intentional about my workouts. And then I
00:07:56
also really want to get a handle on this marketing thing. So in
00:07:59
three months, I don't I don't know, I believe in setting like
00:08:03
actual goals like, I want to be better at marketing in three
00:08:07
months, like how am I going to know? How am I going to know if
00:08:09
I achieved that. So I created this whole marketing plan. And
00:08:13
it's still got to work out exactly what the sort of black
00:08:16
and white like you either did it or you didn't in that three
00:08:19
months. So those two things are what I'm going to work on over
00:08:21
the next three months. So what are what is something that you
00:08:24
want to achieve in the next three months, like if you wanted
00:08:26
to say you've been doing this similar kind of graffiti for the
00:08:30
last five years and you want to, in the next three months, you
00:08:33
want to have something that's completely different that you've
00:08:35
never done before? What do you have to do every day to make
00:08:38
that happen? I would say like, make a commitment to every day,
00:08:42
doing a drawing and trying to explore different letter styles.
00:08:47
Maybe looking at different things online and getting
00:08:49
different ideas. Obviously, I'm not saying to bite somebody
00:08:52
else's shit, but like, we all we all get inspired and we learn
00:08:56
different techniques from each other. So So what are those
00:08:59
daily steps look like for you for what it is that you want to
00:09:02
accomplish? What if you wanted to learn an instrument? You
00:09:04
know, what's that? What's that goal look like? I want to play
00:09:07
this song on the guitar in three months, what do you have to do
00:09:11
every day to make that happen? So set a calendar invite.
00:09:14
Alright, so add a calendar, invite a calendar reminder 90
00:09:18
days from now, and just start doing the day to day, start
00:09:22
doing the work every single day that's gonna get you whatever
00:09:25
that is, you can make a lot of progress in three months,
00:09:28
especially if you're hyper disciplined and
00:09:31
and focus on it, you can also create a lot of very positive
00:09:35
Well, obviously negative habits and create negative habits, much
00:09:39
less time than 90 days. But creating positive habits, in my
00:09:43
opinion are more difficult. So let's say it's a habit that you
00:09:47
wanted to form. That's that's a tangible goal. You know, you
00:09:51
want to form a habit of doing this, that or whatever it is.
00:09:54
The other kind of thing that sort of lined up with this. I'm
00:09:57
in that entrepreneur group called the Arete. syndicate with
00:10:00
Andy for sell and Ed my lead every month. It's a different
00:10:04
theme. And this month is like dealing with anxiety and stress
00:10:08
and overwhelm as a business owner. And I'm kind of dealing
00:10:12
with a lot of that right now. So it was pretty timely, a pretty
00:10:16
timely topic for me. But I really listened to the call from
00:10:20
Wednesday, today, and he said something that lines up
00:10:24
perfectly with this, it's he said, You need to learn to
00:10:27
execute, even if you don't feel like it. I feel like I have that
00:10:32
for a lot of things like every day I'm executing on something
00:10:35
in my business, but at the same time, I probably don't
00:10:40
necessarily execute on all of the right things every single
00:10:44
day. So I need to find a little more, a little more discipline
00:10:48
in not getting sucked into these other tasks. Because as a
00:10:52
business owner, it's pretty easy to get pulled into different
00:10:55
directions, and pulled into doing tasks that don't
00:10:59
necessarily move the needle forward in your business. And
00:11:02
that's my job is to move the business forward. So if I'm not
00:11:06
doing a pretty high percentage of tasks that are going to do
00:11:10
that, I'm not really doing my job. But you know, I'm working
00:11:14
hard, and I'm doing a lot of things, but I could do a lot
00:11:16
better. So when he said that, I thought that's, that's perfect.
00:11:21
And he went on to say like, and I have to paraphrase, because I
00:11:26
don't remember exactly how he said it. But he he was talking
00:11:29
about stuff like, you know, imagine if you're able to
00:11:33
execute on what you need to execute on, regardless of how
00:11:36
you feel, regardless of how motivated you are, regardless of
00:11:40
how you know how much you don't want to do it. If you can always
00:11:44
execute anyway, he said that nobody can stop you, you'll be
00:11:49
unstoppable. And, you know, that may be kind of extreme, because
00:11:53
you know, but there's some truth to that, if you think about it.
00:11:58
I mean, I would, I would think that most of what holds us back
00:12:01
is shit. Like in our own mind most. Most the person that holds
00:12:06
us back the most is us, I would imagine. I know, I know, it's
00:12:10
me, for me. I don't know if it's you for you. But I mean, you'd
00:12:14
think it has to be I mean, it's like, there's so many, so many
00:12:19
phrases and cliches around this topic, like your own worst
00:12:23
critic and shit like that. So I mean, we're the ones that are
00:12:28
holding ourselves back. And so a good you know, that's, that's a
00:12:32
habit that I really want to have. And I think I have it to a
00:12:35
certain extent, but I could definitely be better. And I
00:12:39
think most of us could definitely be better in learning
00:12:42
to execute, regardless of how we feel. We do it anyway. So just
00:12:49
as a quick, quick recap, I know this was a short episode. But
00:12:52
the overall concept is like that three months or whatever
00:12:56
timeline that you put on, I'm going to have this done by this,
00:13:00
that time is gonna go by and it's going to fly by you're
00:13:02
going to be on the other side of it, before you know it. And so
00:13:06
where do you want to be when you get there? Do you want to be
00:13:10
happy that you did the things you said you were gonna do? And
00:13:13
you've achieved the results that you were hoping to achieve? Or
00:13:16
at least you're much further along? Or do you want to be
00:13:19
completely nowhere, in terms of of what you wanted to do,
00:13:24
because that's so easy to do, especially like three months
00:13:27
over the course of a whole life like that's, it just goes by so
00:13:30
fast. But the amount of shit you could get done in that amount of
00:13:34
time is crazy if you really get hyper focused. So that time is
00:13:38
gonna go by anyway. So ask yourself when that time comes
00:13:42
when that alarm goes off on my phone, do I want to be where I
00:13:46
was hoping I was going to be? Or do I want to be still where I am
00:13:50
or possibly even worse off? Because I didn't do shit
00:14:02
Unknown: all right, I appreciate each and every one of you guys
00:14:05
who are supporting the cause and continue to spread the love and
00:14:10
yeah, stay up
