00:00:00
So I decided to revisit the book Think and Grow Rich, I've talked
00:00:03
about it before, it's probably one of the most recommended
00:00:06
books out there me, I don't know, it's like fucking was
00:00:09
written in the 30s feel like every entrepreneurs read it. And
00:00:16
if you haven't read it, it's, it's really good. And I was, I
00:00:20
was a little put off by it before I knew what the book was
00:00:23
when I read the title because I'm like, thinking it's some
00:00:26
sort of get rich type of scheme or something like that, but it's
00:00:30
really not.
00:00:32
It's really not like that it's
00:00:35
it depends on how you define success. So it's, if you want to
00:00:39
be successful in any area, whether it's money or
00:00:42
relationships or anything like this, the a lot of the stuff in
00:00:46
the book is applicable. And one of the things I'm not going to
00:00:52
really get into like the book specifically, but some of the
00:00:56
takeaways are things that led me down a path of thinking certain
00:01:00
ways.
00:01:02
And then I'll get into kind of why turn turning into an episode
00:01:05
of this fucking thing is.
00:01:09
So number one, you know, anything you want in your life,
00:01:13
it's generally starts with a thought. So if you wanted to buy
00:01:16
something, or if you wanted to get into a relationship, you've
00:01:19
decided you want to do graffiti, you decide you want to do some
00:01:22
kind of art, all of these things, start with a thought.
00:01:25
And then your mind, you know, kind of works on that. And so
00:01:29
your conscious thought you might be thinking about, let's just
00:01:32
say for example, you want to buy this type of car. So your, your
00:01:35
conscious mind is constantly thinking about it, I really want
00:01:38
this car, I want this type of car, all this kind of shit. And
00:01:41
the more you think about it, the more you sort of program your
00:01:44
subconscious mind to start working on that shit for you in
00:01:47
the background. And so the sort of theories that a lot of people
00:01:50
have around this idea of like manifesting things, and kind of
00:01:54
the law of attraction and all that kind of stuff is, well, I
00:01:58
don't know, I kind of, I think I've talked about this a bunch
00:02:00
of times, but it sort of depends on how you look at it. So you
00:02:04
could look at it in one way, like you want this thing or you
00:02:07
want to do these things, or whatever that thing looks like
00:02:10
for you.
00:02:12
The more you you consciously think about it, the more you
00:02:16
really kind of focus on it.
00:02:19
That will set set your subconscious mind in moment to
00:02:22
try to find ways to make that thing happened. Other people
00:02:25
think or believe that, you know, you're putting these sort of
00:02:29
orders out into the universe, and you're kind of the universe
00:02:33
is gonna listen and kind of put those things together for you.
00:02:37
And I kind of believe both of those things. I feel like
00:02:41
there's an order to it. Or it could be like God, it could be
00:02:44
our Creator, I don't, I don't really know, I'm kind of more
00:02:47
agnostic, when it comes to stuff like that. I believe there's
00:02:51
some shit. And when you look all around, it's hard to say that
00:02:55
there isn't.
00:02:56
But what what that shit is I don't really know. So I've
00:03:00
always, not always but I've I've for a long time, I believe that
00:03:04
there's some kind of some kind of order to things. And if you
00:03:08
start taking certain actions, there's some some force, whether
00:03:14
that's your subconscious mind, which is incredibly powerful. Or
00:03:17
if it's the universe verse, or it's some kind of other kind of
00:03:21
supernatural Shit, I don't, I have no idea. But I've, for a
00:03:26
long time, I've believed that there is some reality to this
00:03:30
shit. And so
00:03:32
some of the things that you pick up in this book, obviously,
00:03:35
there's the you know, thing, starting with a thought, or they
00:03:39
call it like a burning desire, like you have a burning desire
00:03:42
to do something. And they have all these, like cool examples in
00:03:45
there
00:03:46
about different people that have these desires, and they they go
00:03:50
to great lengths to make these things happen. And then there's
00:03:54
also the idea of, like having this extreme determination, like
00:03:58
you're not going to, you're going to do whatever it takes,
00:04:01
and a couple of examples. One of them is I don't even know if
00:04:05
this really happened. And I've heard this story before. And you
00:04:09
might have heard this too. It's sort of like, this army lands on
00:04:13
the shore, to fight this battle. And the person in charge,
00:04:18
ordered everybody to burn the ships. And he told them, Look,
00:04:22
the ships are burned. There's no way we can give up, like we're
00:04:26
either gonna win or we're gonna die. We've given ourselves no
00:04:29
Plan B and in the story that that army one, you know, they
00:04:33
sort of manufactured this kind of like, no way out kind of
00:04:37
scenario be cooked by burning the ships. And so a lot of times
00:04:41
in entrepreneurship, they talk about the same thing there, you
00:04:44
know, no, Plan B and all that kind of stuff. And I believe in
00:04:47
that as well. Like, I don't feel like I have, I don't have a plan
00:04:51
B that I would like to do. You know, like, if everything went
00:04:54
to shit that I'm doing now, I know. I know. There's other
00:04:57
things I can do but I still do.
00:05:00
have that mentality that there's no, there's no Plan B, like as
00:05:04
if I've burned the ships, and this business that I'm doing
00:05:07
right now, that's it. So you have this burning desire, and
00:05:10
you have this determination to make it happen, whatever,
00:05:14
whatever that is. And so I have that with my business. One thing
00:05:19
that I struggle with, though, is is kind of like doubt. And I
00:05:23
don't really have doubt in my while, I guess I kind of
00:05:26
everybody sort of doubts themselves at times, but I worry
00:05:31
a lot. So I stress out when sales numbers are down. And then
00:05:34
when sales numbers are up, I stress out about different
00:05:37
things, you know, so it's, it's an interesting kind of way to
00:05:41
live life. But
00:05:44
you know, I do have that sort of, like, burn the ships kind of
00:05:47
mentality like this is I'm doing this one way or the other. And,
00:05:52
you know, some things that they talked about in the book and
00:05:54
some some things that I was reminded of, when I was going
00:05:57
back through it is, you know, your belief in something, you
00:06:00
could sort of manifest the reality that that you have in
00:06:04
your mind. So I mean, some of the things that they talked
00:06:06
about, like having this strong belief that something's going to
00:06:09
happen, and those things did happen. And so it goes both
00:06:15
ways. And they gave examples of both ways, it's like, you can
00:06:18
believe something bad is gonna happen, like you're gonna get
00:06:21
sick or something like that, then you can sort of manifest
00:06:24
that sickness, if you believe it's strong enough. And then on
00:06:28
the other side of it, if you believe that something good is
00:06:32
going to happen, then that kind of pushes that that thing
00:06:36
towards you, or pulls it towards you. So what led me into
00:06:39
recording this thing is the other day, Jesse and I were
00:06:44
going to this party, it was this, one of her friends, and
00:06:48
her dad is this like rich guy, and he has like a mansion and
00:06:52
all this stuff, and the party was at this mansion. And so I
00:06:54
didn't realize that until we were on the way there. And so
00:06:58
when she told me that, I kind of immediately start judging myself
00:07:02
when I hear about things like that, because I'm like, Man, I
00:07:05
can't, I can't afford a mansion. Like I don't know, if I'll ever
00:07:08
if I don't really want a mansion, but I want that kind of
00:07:11
money. There's a lot of things I would like to do. You know, so
00:07:15
it starts, it starts making me think about myself like and sort
00:07:19
of, like where I'm at in life, in sort of a negative way. I
00:07:23
used to, I probably would have dwelled on that for a long time,
00:07:27
in my younger years. But nowadays, like, I understand
00:07:31
that those kinds of thoughts are powerful. And if you start to go
00:07:35
down this path, like, Man, I'm, I'm 50 years old, and they're,
00:07:40
you know, I'm not nearly where I want to be, and like, how am I
00:07:43
going to get there, and all this kind of stuff. And you could
00:07:45
really lead yourself down these kind of negative paths. And so I
00:07:48
pretty quickly noticed that I was starting to think along
00:07:51
those lines. And I flipped it around. And I remember there was
00:07:54
something that that Andy for Sela talks about a lot. And
00:07:57
he's, he says, you know, there's a lot of people that, that hate
00:08:01
on other people for winning. So when you see somebody doing
00:08:04
something that you are trying to do, or they're further along
00:08:10
than you in some way, and you see them doing that, a lot of
00:08:13
people have a tendency to sort of hate that, for that person,
00:08:17
you know, you don't take the time to Well, I mean, I it sort
00:08:20
of, like, for me, it comes in the form, and I'm sure this is
00:08:23
similar for a lot of people, it's sort of, it makes you feel
00:08:27
worse about your own shit, you know, when you see somebody
00:08:30
that's doing better than you, and better is obviously
00:08:33
subjective. Like, I'm super happy in a lot of ways. So I
00:08:37
mean, it's like, somebody's doing better than me,
00:08:40
financially. It doesn't make me completely doubt my whole shit.
00:08:45
But at the same time, it does make me
00:08:48
feel worse about my own financial situation, when I see
00:08:52
somebody that's doing better than me. And, you know, in in a
00:08:56
similar way, it's like, if I see somebody that's around my age,
00:09:00
and they're in way better shape, like I'm trying to get in way
00:09:02
better shape, and I see somebody that's already, like, been there
00:09:06
forever, you know, there's a tendency to sort of like think
00:09:10
negatively about yourself when you see shit like that for a lot
00:09:13
of people. And so I think that's why you see a lot of these like,
00:09:18
quote, and I don't like this word haters. I think it's kind
00:09:21
of overused and stupid at this point. But that's why you see a
00:09:24
lot of that kind of behavior, you know, because I think when
00:09:28
people see somebody that's doing better than them in some way or
00:09:31
another, whether you know, if somebody, you see it, like in
00:09:34
the graph community a lot too, and I mean, it's like, somebody,
00:09:38
I'll post something and they're trying to do something, and
00:09:41
there's all these people that are hating on them. And it's
00:09:45
like, I've gotten to the point in my life now when I see shit
00:09:48
like that. I'm like, it says more about that person than it
00:09:51
does. The one that's receiving the hate whether it's me or
00:09:54
somebody else. It's like that person's taking the time to put
00:09:58
that negative shit out in the world.
00:10:00
And so kind of flipping it back to what I was originally talking
00:10:03
about is like, having that stuff happen in your own mind. And
00:10:07
that that's what was happening to me very briefly. And this
00:10:12
just happened to happen like I, I listened, I have I have this
00:10:16
book on,
00:10:18
I've read the book, and I also have an audio. So every now and
00:10:22
then I'll just replay the audio. So I had finished it, and I'd
00:10:25
started it over again. And then this whole kind of party thing
00:10:29
came up, and it was related. So I started thinking about, man,
00:10:34
I'm all over the place right now. So I briefly started
00:10:36
thinking like, oh, man, we're going to this mansion, and I'm
00:10:39
gonna feel bad about myself when I see all this success, you
00:10:42
know. And what Andy for Sela had talked about is like, you can't
00:10:49
do that. And there's a lot of reasons why you can't do that.
00:10:52
Number one, obviously, it's not healthy, to feel bad about
00:10:56
yourself. You know, just because somebody else managed to do
00:11:00
something that you would like to do, or whatever that looks like
00:11:03
for you. Like, that's not a good thing. But back to the whole
00:11:09
sort of idea of like manifesting and all that kind of shit.
00:11:12
Anytime you hate on somebody for succeeding, or for winning, or
00:11:16
something like that, you're kind of doing the same sort of
00:11:20
manifesting shit, right there than you would had you tried to,
00:11:26
you know, focus your mind on what you want. So if you start
00:11:29
hating on somebody, you know, because they succeed, you're
00:11:32
sort of putting that order out into the universe or into your
00:11:35
subconscious mind that you don't like success. Because you're
00:11:39
saying like, Wow, man, I don't think like the hater type of
00:11:43
shit. I put this sort of self doubt on myself. So like, I
00:11:47
guess we'll talk about it on that level, like, so if I'm
00:11:49
doing that shit, I'm sort of putting this order out into the
00:11:52
universe or into my subconscious mind that I don't believe that I
00:11:56
can do that. And there's no good reason to do that. I mean,
00:12:00
there's no reason to put that on yourself. So I mean, so rather
00:12:04
than sitting there and thinking, like, oh, man, I can't afford a
00:12:07
mansion. You know, why can't Why am I 50 years old, and I haven't
00:12:12
haven't achieved this financial success that I'm trying to
00:12:14
achieve, and all this kind of stuff. I caught myself doing
00:12:17
that. And then I was like, Nah, man, that's not the way to go.
00:12:20
You know, I gotta be happy for for anybody winning. So I
00:12:24
started just being happy for this dude. And I don't know this
00:12:26
guy. I've never met him before. But I'm like, Fuck, yeah, man.
00:12:30
You did it. You know, congrats on your success. I'm thinking
00:12:33
this in my mind. And I don't even know this person. And so
00:12:36
then when I got there,
00:12:38
like, I felt way better going into this house. Like, it was
00:12:41
really nice. I mean, totally not like something that I would. I'm
00:12:45
kind of more of a simple guy, but at the same time, like, when
00:12:48
you go into a place like this, and you're like, fuck, dude,
00:12:51
like, man, you must have a lot of money to be able to afford
00:12:55
this shit. You know, like, it's a big house, they got like, this
00:12:58
cool back yard with like, a fucking, I don't even know what
00:13:02
it's called. There's like, like, another little structure with a
00:13:05
bar out there. It's like, I think there was a fireplace out
00:13:09
there, and a fucking tennis court and all that shit. And,
00:13:14
you know, had I stayed in that frame of mind and thinking like,
00:13:17
oh, man, like, you know, I don't I don't have all these things,
00:13:20
or I can't afford all these things. Had I not flipped it
00:13:23
around? I think it would have been pretty bad to walk into
00:13:27
that and just been like, fuck, dude, like, I don't know you. I
00:13:31
think hopefully, it makes sense. But that's kind of like the
00:13:34
power of your mind. Like, if you switch it up, switch it up on
00:13:37
yourself, and you're like, I'm just, I'm just gonna decide to
00:13:40
be happy for this person for succeeding. What's the worst
00:13:43
that will happen? Like, let's say that that is true. You know,
00:13:46
like, if I'm sitting here worrying about my business, that
00:13:49
I'm going to potentially manifest bad things to happen to
00:13:53
my business. But if I stopped doing that, and start
00:13:58
putting my mind into more like believing that we're gonna get
00:14:00
past everything, because most of the time, I believe we're gonna
00:14:04
get through everything, but then sometimes I'll kind of go into a
00:14:07
darker place. And I'll worry, but rereading this book was just
00:14:11
sort of thing, reminding me like how powerful your thoughts are.
00:14:15
And that I don't want to program into my subconscious mind that I
00:14:19
think something bad's gonna happen, because who knows, maybe
00:14:22
something bad will happen. And, and then on the flip side, you
00:14:27
know, when I when I hear about somebody doing something, like
00:14:30
I'm in that group, I talked about it a few times, and like
00:14:33
somebody posted, they posted that they're, they're building a
00:14:38
building, and it's like,
00:14:41
it's kind of the size and kind of like this sort of structure
00:14:45
of what I picture machine to be way down in the future. So when
00:14:50
I saw that, I was like, you know, my first instinct was
00:14:54
like, fuck, man. I hope I can get that you know, but then I
00:14:58
caught myself and I'm like, now
00:15:00
You gotta celebrate that. Like, I don't even know that guy
00:15:02
either. But I want if anything, or anyone or the universe or my
00:15:07
subconscious mind or anything I want to, I want that shit to
00:15:11
know that I want those things and, and by sort of getting a
00:15:17
negative feeling about myself when I see somebody else winning
00:15:22
is not going to do that. And I believe that so I mean, now,
00:15:26
when I see somebody that's in better shape than me, I'm like,
00:15:30
Damn, I'm gonna get there, you know, that's dope that he did
00:15:33
that. Or, you know, he must have worked really hard, and I'm
00:15:36
gonna get there to somebody that's building this 150
00:15:41
square foot building. Fuck yeah, man. Congrats on your success.
00:15:45
I'm gonna, I'm gonna get there myself. You know, maybe it's a
00:15:49
little woowoo. But like, what's the worst that's gonna happen? I
00:15:51
mean, at least you're gonna feel better about the situation like
00:15:54
that. Nobody wants to look at somebody else succeeding and
00:15:58
then all of a sudden feel bad about yourself. Like, that's
00:16:00
not. Who wants to live like that? I don't know, I just found
00:16:03
it helpful to you know, even if it's somebody you don't know.
00:16:08
And they, you know, they post that they're winning. You know?
00:16:12
A lot of people might be like, oh, man, that guy's bragging
00:16:15
because he's doing all this stuff. So I mean, what's the
00:16:17
worst that's going to happen? You're going to see somebody
00:16:20
winning and be stoked for that person, and actually feel good
00:16:23
about it. Or you're going to see somebody winning and then have
00:16:27
some negative feelings towards yourself, because you're not
00:16:30
where that person is. Like, that's who wants to live like
00:16:33
that.
00:16:41
All right.
00:16:43
appreciate each and every one of you guys who are supporting the
00:16:46
cause and continue to spread the love and yeah, stay up.
